Full Semester Planning
This recipe covers planning an entire semester's worth of course materials using Chelle.
Goal
Create a complete semester plan with units sequenced logically and a full set of activities for each unit.
Approach
- Start with the full textbook — Upload your complete course textbook to get a comprehensive Knowledge Model.
- Plan your unit sequence — Think about how many weeks you have and how many units fit. Chelle's suggested structure is a starting point.
- Balance concept density — Some units will naturally have more concepts. Split heavy units or combine light ones to balance the workload.
- Vary activity types — Not every unit needs every activity type. Plan a mix across the semester.
- Generate in batches — Generate activities for a few units at a time. Review and refine before moving on.
Semester structure tips
- Front-load foundational units that other units depend on
- Schedule assessments after every 3-4 units
- Include review units before major exams
- Check the Knowledge Model for prerequisite chains — they'll tell you what must come first
