The Six Stages
Chelle's course building workflow has six stages. Each stage builds on the previous one, taking you from a raw textbook to a complete set of course materials.
Stage 1: Identify Course
Upload your textbook or source material. Chelle analyzes the content — identifying the subject matter, scope, and depth of the material. This sets the foundation for everything that follows.
Stage 2: Build Knowledge Model
Chelle extracts every meaningful concept from your source material and maps the connections between them. The result is a structured Knowledge Model with concepts, relationships, and citations back to the original text.
Stage 3: Define Units
Organize your course into logical units. Chelle suggests a structure based on the Knowledge Model — grouping related concepts into coherent teaching units. You can accept, modify, or replace the suggestions.
Stage 4: Map Concepts to Units
Assign Knowledge Model concepts to each unit. This step ensures complete coverage — every concept from your textbook is accounted for, and nothing gets lost. Chelle highlights gaps and overlaps.
Stage 5: Select Activity Types
Choose which activities to generate for each unit. You can select any combination of lectures, labs, worksheets, study guides, and assessments. Different units might need different activity mixes.
Stage 6: Generate Activities
Chelle generates complete, ready-to-use activities for each unit. Every piece of generated content traces back to specific concepts in the Knowledge Model, with citations to your source material.
