Chat vs Lake View
Chelle offers two complementary ways to work with your knowledge: Chat view and Lake view. Understanding when to use each will help you work more effectively.
Chat View
Chat view is a full-screen conversation interface. Use it when you want to:
- Have a focused, extended conversation with Chelle
- Work through complex problems step by step
- Create or modify multiple entities in one session
- Get Chelle's full attention without distractions
In Chat view, you'll see your conversation history in the sidebar. Click any past conversation to resume it with full context.
Lake View
Lake view shows your Context Lake - the structured collection of entities that make up your knowledge base. Use it when you want to:
- Browse your tasks, projects, and documents
- Read and edit specific entities
- Understand how your knowledge is organized
- Ask quick questions about a specific document
In Lake view, you can open a sidebar chat to ask questions about the current entity. Select text and click "Ask Claude" to get explanations or elaborations.
Switching Between Views
Use the toggle in the header to switch between Chat and Lake views. Your conversation state is preserved when you switch.
Sidebar Sessions
In Lake view, the sidebar chat creates focused "sessions" attached to specific entities. This keeps your conversations organized:
- Questions about a task stay with that task
- You can attach multiple entities to a session
- "Open in Chat" moves a session to full Chat view
